    Discovering and Rediscovering Wied Ħallelin

Multi-pitch climbs being a rarity on our islands, it is quite thrilling to discover the existence of a fully-bolted 5-pitch route on the sea cliffs east of Zurrieq, in the area known as Wied Ħallelin. Encouraged by Miriam Gauci and led by Andrew Warrington who had been on the route before, four MRCC climbers set…

Much was accomplished in a single winter’s day at the crags in Ghar Lapsi, as both old and new routes kept experienced and beginner climbers alike busy all day long! We tend to go there less frequently, yet the potential for development of new routes on the extensive sea cliffs is massive. So last Sunday, three…

Cold Weather does not Deter Climbers from their Sunday Exercise

As temperatures dropped below average even for this time of year, the MRCC sought the shelter provided by the caves in Għar Lapsi for the Club’s Sunday event. While Andrew, Kurt and Roland worked a trad route called Comfortable Shoes E4/5 6a in Hardman’s Cave (McCarthey’s), the less experienced tackled Bonny Prince Albert 5c+. This…
